During all these years without hair, I have made multiple trips, at first I had many doubts about how was the best way to travel with my wigs, I wanted to enjoy with all the styling but with comfort ... So after trial and error, I have become almost an expert.
I share with you my best tips and tricks so that traveling with our accessories is the least of your worries and you only dedicate yourself to enjoy.
Pack your wigs with love
If you're traveling with multiple wigs, pack them securely; if they are made of natural hair, it is best to do it in their boxes of origin (so that they take less shape), if they are synthetic, you can do it in a cloth bag that will always take up less space. Depending on where you travel, it may happen that your bag or suitcase is checked. If you have your wigs safely stored in their box, they won't be damaged if they stir more than they should.
Carry spare parts
Bring one of your older wigs as a replacement in case something happens to the main one, such as getting lost or damaged. Having a spare part will give you that extra peace of mind. If it's an older wig that you don't wear as often you won't feel guilty if you don't put it on in the end. Also, if you go to a very hot or very cold place, you can wear your older wig under caps and hats. This way, you don't risk damaging the lace or hair fiber of your main wig.
Best short
Wear a short or medium-length wig while traveling through airports. I do this to avoid wig friction on the plane seat if I'm sitting (or taking a nap) on a flight that lasts several hours. I also get the straps on my carry-on baggage from getting tangled up in my hair when I have to pick up or drop off my luggage at airport security and boarding processes.
Bring your corresponding products
Wash your wigs before the trip, and if you're going to be out for more than 2 weeks, bring your own shampoos and wig care products, in travel size. You never know what shampoos you're going to find in hotels and how your fibers in your wig are going to respond. I do not take any chances, I always carry my own products because I know that my hairs will remain in perfect condition. Also, I always carry a wide-toothed comb on hand to quickly untangle and maintain your style throughout the day.
Use bandanas or handkerchiefs
If you are going to go to the pool or the beach, it is better to give up the hairs and use bandanas, handkerchiefs or turbans, always made of natural fibers such as cotton, bamboo or viscose, they are soft, comfortable and very breathable. If you don't feel like showing your bare head, they are a great option to take a good dip, and there are beautiful models! Do not give up enjoying the water.
